Summary

As Cain kills Abel, he shows that he is the seed of the serpent. His deeds make him obvious (1 John 3:10-12). The blood of righteous Abel cries out from the ground for justice. The first murderer demonstrates that sin is spreading and escalating. The seed of the serpent is void of love and faith. The seed of the woman receives the testimony of God because of his faith (Heb. 11:4).

A Note from Brian

The good news of this terrible, heart-breaking event in early human history is that it points us to the ultimate Seed of the Woman, Jesus Christ. His blood also speaks, but it speaks better than the blood of Abel (Heb. 11:24). Whereas Abel’s blood cried for justice, Jesus’ blood satisfies divine justice and gives peace with God.
